RBC Visa Infinite AVION named the official credit
card of The Golf Town Amateur Tour
RICHMOND HILL (June 12, 2008) — The Golf Town
Amateur Tour is pleased to name RBC Visa Infinite
AVION as the official credit card of The Golf Town Amateur
Tour - the first official tour credit card in its five year
history. Over the next five years (2008-2012), RBC is the
title sponsor for the RBC Canadian Open, Canada's national
golf championship, and is now also sponsoring Ontario's premium
amateur golf tour.
"We're absolutely thrilled to have the RBC Visa Infinite AVION as part of our growing group of sponsors," said
Canadian Golf Tours Inc. President Mark Young. "Their
leadership as a title sponsor of the RBC Canadian Open combined
with being the official credit card sponsor of The Golf Town
Amateur Tour clearly demonstrates RBC's dedication to the
development of golf in Ontario and Canada."
As part of RBC's Visa Infinite Avion sponsorship deal with
The Tour, RBC will host a longest drive challenge at each
of the remaining 25 events in the 2008 tour. Winners of The
Tour's long-drive competition prior to July 22nd will receive
two one-day Executive Rooftop Patio tickets for The 2008 RBC
Canadian Open. Long-drive winners after July 27th will receive
tickets to the 2009 RBC Canadian Open.
"The new RBC Visa Infinite AVION card lets
cardholders fly sooner by earning points faster," said
Cathy Honor, RBC Head of Global Cards. "Not only does
it have one of the most flexible travel programs in Canada,
fewer points are needed compared to many other travel cards.
There's no limit to where this card can take you and we're
pleased to encourage this way of thinking at prestigious events
that many of our clients attend such as The Golf Town Amateur
Tour and the RBC Canadian Open."
The RBC Canadian Open will also host the RBC Visa Infinite
AVION longest drive contest to be run on the 16th hole at
Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario. Spectators can
enter the contest by guessing which pro will hit the longest
drive of the day. All entrants have access to a daily prize
and are eligible for a grand prize draw at the end of the
RBC Canadian Open - a one-week trip for four to golf in California,
Arizona or Florida. Golf fans who are unable to attend the
tournament can also participate in the grand prize contest
by selecting the yardage they think will represent the longest
drive of the tournament and enter the contest at www.rbccanadianopen.com.
